Book available again
I’m attending a regional math conference right now, so I don’t have time to do much fancy, but I took a moment to upload the file with the whole book somewhere. I took down the links for the individual chapters since I started thinking that maybe that was confusing and redundant to have the whole book plus individual chapters both available. (And it’s less work for me to keep one file updated instead of several.) Let me know if you have any opinions on this one way or the other.
I’ll say this for anybody new to the way that I’ve got the book set up. The way to make sense of how it’s organized is to find the entry “table of contents” (hopefully it’s listed at the top when you open up the database and it lists all the games) and then follow links from there.
By the way, sorry about any adds or pop ups on the site where it’s hosted. I just quickly did one that somebody suggested that seemed easy. If anybody knows of a place where I can stick it so you guys won’t have to go through the annoying extra stuff, let me know.
Thanks – better this way.

dropbox.com is the best, and the easiest.
you can go there directly or use this link to start a free account.

just upload your e-book into your public folder and post the link here on your site. problem solved, for good.
Cool – thanks for this.
One quick comment – I downloaded the latest “book” (Jan 25, 2011) from your link, and the “Game Format” link seems to be broken for the Introduction to 8…0-0 chapter.
Thanks for pointing this out. I had a look at it and it appears that the link you’re probably talking about goes to the right game but to the wrong move number. So if this is the problem, a workaround is just to rewind back to move 9 after clicking on the link. I fixed the link, but for some reason my ChessBase 10 is throwing a dumb error and I can’t make a .cbv file at the moment. I’ll eventually post a fixed version, but will probably wait until the next major update to wrestle with these technical difficulties.
Sorry for my extremely slow responses on this blog. Just too busy with other projects at the moment, and I’m terrible at multitasking.
No worries about the slow responses – we all appreciate everything you’ve done with this, and slow is much better than none!
It’s not even pulling up the “game window” for the “broken” ones – it just beeps and brings up an error box that says “Game/text not found”.
(I’m using CBReader by the way – don’t have full version of ChessBase – maybe that makes a difference?)
Are most things working for everyone else? Most of the “theory” links in the file are broken for me, though a few work and all the full “Featured Games” seem to work. I think I’m doing something wrong…
Edit: As a side note, the final 2 chapters work completely for me, but a lot of the early ones don’t.
Okay. I’ve tried this out on a different computer with the CBReader instead of CB10 and now I’m getting your same error. I don’t believe it should make a difference betweeen CBReader and CB10. (Well, hopefully that’s not it, anyway.) So I’ll work on fixing this when I get a chance.
Wow great job Jason . Really impressed with your work .Looking forward to Chap 13 When is it likely to be uploaded ? Coz that is the line i play with white
after being inspired by karpov !

Thank you. I’m not sure about that chapter. I think I’ve written a big chunk of it already, but that was almost two years ago and I’ll need to give it another look. I’m hoping to finish up my PhD thesis in a month or two. Perhaps after that is done I’ll find the motivation to work on this project again.
Two years ago is a long time in the dragon yugo but as u have written a big chunk of it what about putting it under scrutiny by uploading it separately not as a part of the actual book but anyway its ur wish . All the best for ur PHD and I m sure after that u will surely find the motivation required after that !
